Hi there, and welcome to our blog. Since it seems like everyone else is creating a blog we thought perhaps we should also get with the times and create one as well. We would like to share with you our adventures on how me we moved from small town Northern Alberta Canada to the beautiful state of the Yucatan in Mexico.

When we first visited the Yucatan we fell absolutely in love with every aspect of it from the culture, the food, the cost of living, the charming people and of course beautiful warm sunny days all year round. That is all it took to convince us to take the plunge for our big move. We are now proud to call Mexico our home.

We have created this blog for you to follow our journey and to understand the life here in the Yucatan. We are also co-owners of Mayan Living Real Estate, a very successful and well respected real estate company here in the Yucatan. Please feel free to stop by our website for more information this beautiful area. Also don’t forget to add our blog to your favourites or even better become a follower so you can keep up to date on all of our new posts. We are now on TWITTER as well. Just click on the link located on the right hand side and join our adventures on there as well.

DAY OUT IN CHICXULUB

Chicxulub is a great little fishing village just east of Progreso, and also where we reside. The town has so much to offer and has everything you need. Our expat community here is growing with quite a few Canadians who call this delightful little town home!

This map may be animated however it is an easy way for you to understand
where all the little towns are that we talk about all the time :)

My Canadian girlfriend Ruth, (from the Vancouver area) and I spent a day out in Chicxulub and thought we would share with you some pictures from our day. Hope you enjoy!

This is the cemetary just outside of centro Chicxulub.
We took a little tour. Quite beautiful when you really look at it.

This is the view of the ocean from our beach house in Chicxulub.
I feel so blessed every morning I wake up and see that sight.

Also from our beach house this is one of the sunsets I captured a few days ago.
Stunning I think :)

Here is an "everything" store in centro Chicxulub.
Nelda has everything from soup to nuts as they would say.

Having emergency numbers always is a good thing to have on hand.
They have it posted right in the town square in English and Spanish

This is a wonderful restaurant. They are open most of the time and serve local fish caught daily, plus many other great items. All their shrimp dishes are authentic and fantastic!!

This is Chicxulub's community centre.
Sometimes all the ladies get together here to knit, craft, and even cut hair :)

While most Mexicans will purchase their meats at the local market you also have the option of purchasing chicken, beef, pork ect from this air-conditioned store
which displays everything almost like our Safeway’s, and Kroger’s.

Here is my great friend Ruth and I on the Chicxulub pier.
It was such a perfect day!!

This is one of the streets in Chicxulub that leads right to the pier.

Gorgeous day, gorgeous water. Beautiful sight isn't it!! :)

Here is another fantastic restaurant that we eat at quite often in Chicxulub.
This is where Ruth and I stopped for lunch.

Now this picture says it all :))

Chips and homemade salsa. Super yummy!

Ruth enjoying her beverage after a full day walking around Chicxulub.

This is a bowl full of "Healing Properties" as some Mexicans say....aka Fish Soup :)
Full of seafood and fresh ingredients. A must have at any restaurant in the Yucatan if you are a seafood lover.

And then their famous coconut shrimp dish. Ohhh so delish!!!!
We had 4 beverages, Fish soup, and the Coconut Shrimp and our bill was 22 US dollars. Wow!!!!

Our son and our dog playing together in the water as the sun goes down.
How great is that!!
Come down and spend a couple weeks here and see the charm, and experience “true” Mexico. You will fall in love with the people, the beaches, the food, and you never know you just might find that perfect little Mexican home you have always wanted.  Remember Real estate is still affordable here in the Yucatan!! CLICK HERE for a great little bargain on our WEBSITE.

Until next time....just hanging in paradise..
